Indonesia’s Superkrane expands crane fleet with Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1

Indonesian heavy haulage specialist PT Superkrane Mitra Utama has expanded its fleet with a new Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 mobile crane, as the company prepares for demanding large-scale projects in 2026. “The decision in favour of the LTM 1230-5.1 was based, among other things, on its technical performance and the specific requirements of a customer project,” said Yafin Tandiono Tan, president director of PT Superkrane Mitra Utama.

The 230-t mobile crane has a long telescopic boom and is particularly suitable for operation in steep positions and at great hook heights. “With its 75-m telescopic boom, Variobase system and the highest lifting capacity in its class, this crane is the ideal addition to our five-axle fleet,” continued Mr Tandiono.

Offering comprehensive services in equipment rental, heavy lifting and logistics, as well as construction, Superkrane actively supports the Indonesian government’s strategic initiatives to promote industrial value creation in the country. “We play a crucial role in facilitating the downstream processes that transform raw materials into high-quality end products,” said Mr Tandiono. The new LTM 1230-5.1 crane will therefore be used primarily for long-term construction projects in the oil and gas industry, petrochemicals, energy sector, mining and infrastructure.

Besides the technical performance of the LTM 1230-5.1, the high market acceptance and resale value of Liebherr cranes were important factors in the investment decision. “Another key factor was the excellent service and comprehensive, reliable support provided by the Liebherr team,” added Mr Tandiono.

Founded in 1996, Superkrane has grown from a small crane rental business with an initial fleet of 20 machines to a heavy-duty specialist with around 400 cranes and more than 900 employees. The company added its first Liebherr crane – an LTM 1200-5.1 – to its fleet in 2010. Today, the fleet comprises Liebherr crawler cranes of the types LR 1300, LR 1750/2 and LR 1600/2; mobile cranes of the types LTM 1100-5.2, LTM 1200-5.1, LTM 1150-5.3 and LTM 1500-8.1, plus various all-terrain models.
